Pogo: +50% organic traffic and AI visibility in under 12 months

Context

In 2024, Pogo — a platform specialized in creating no-download online games — reached out to SEO Alive to drive their organic growth and improve their visibility in search engines.

Goal

The main goal was to grow unbranded traffic by 20% to 25%.

Starting point

Up to that moment, the project had a poorly structured SEO foundation. There was no clearly defined strategy, which led to misaligned execution and limited the team's ability to produce content and ship on-page improvements quickly.

Given this, we designed an end-to-end solution built on something different: not just providing strategy, but activating a real execution model. We worked in close coordination with the SEO Alive, Alive Content and Alive Dev teams, with a collaboration dynamic focused on enabling implementation and keeping the work moving. This synergy let us:

  • Speed up content creation and optimization.
  • Turn strategic recommendations into real, production-ready implementations.
  • Significantly reduce execution times.
  • Increase the volume of optimizations in less time.

Actions (Part 1): keyword research and on-page optimization

  • In-depth research of potential keywords, prioritizing the pages with the highest business impact and the greatest organic growth opportunity.
  • Improvements across every on-page SEO pillar: metadata and H1 optimization (for search engines and GEO/AEO), a clear and consistent heading structure, strategic SEO content including FAQ sections, internal linking review and improvement (connecting orphan pages), and structured data implementation for rich results and better CTR.
  • Constant performance tracking to assess impact and apply periodic optimizations.

Results

These actions drove +50% growth in unbranded clicks and +150% in unbranded impressions, far exceeding the initial goal and reaching double the target.

Unbranded clicks growth (+50%)

Unbranded impressions growth (+150%)

The share of unbranded clicks went from 15% to 21%, and unbranded impressions from 80% to 92% of the total.

Beyond traditional metrics, we saw a notable increase in visibility across AI-powered environments (AI Overview, AI Mode and ChatGPT), going from a few hundred mentions to:

  • Over 1,000 mentions on ChatGPT
  • Over 4,000 mentions on AI Overview
  • Over 8,000 mentions on AI Mode

Brand mentions across ChatGPT, AI Overview and AI Mode

Mentions consolidated around key brand-relevant topics (free game websites, best online gaming websites, online games to play with friends, free multiplayer games online). On top of that, game pages became the main entry points from AI platforms (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini), shortening the path to conversion.

Actions (Part 2): content strategy (blog)

We designed a content strategy aimed at reinforcing the key pages (games and main categories), aligning editorial content with SEO and business goals.

Despite a high-authority domain (high DR), article performance was limited even 6 months after publication. The content lived on a subdomain whose architecture and internal linking limited crawl frequency and indexation. We therefore recommended migrating the content to the main domain.

Within just 3 months of the migration:

  • +50% in clicks and a 10-position improvement in average ranking.
  • Clicks: 13K (3 months post-migration) vs. 9K (previous 11 months).
  • Average position: 7.4 vs. 17.14 before.

Article performance after the migration (+50% clicks)

Actions (Part 3): finding new organic opportunities

We ran a competitor analysis together with additional keyword research to spot new categories and games with strong organic potential.

Creating fewer than 10 URLs generated around 50,000 clicks. Among them, the Wheel of Fortune page stood out as the main traffic driver, with 43,000 clicks and 2 million impressions.

Conclusion

This success story shows that, even on high-authority projects, real growth comes when you apply a structured, business-focused SEO strategy executed at speed.

In under 12 months, the project not only beat its initial goals but multiplied its visibility across Google and AI-driven environments, turning organic into one of the business's main growth levers. The combination of strategic decisions (such as content migration), continuous optimization and spotting new opportunities unlocked the domain's real potential.
